Dr. David Engberg has worked in the international education field for more than 20 years. His interests and expertise relate to university internationalization, partnership building, education abroad program development, international student recruitment and services, international office budgeting and marketing, and the use of technology to advance international education activities.  Before founding the GO Group, Dr. Engberg directed international program offices at both public (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Montana State University) and private (University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota) universities.  Prior to his university service, Dr. Engberg held staff positions at Boston College’s Center for International Higher Education (CIHE) and the American Council on Education's international department, where he was involved in developing procedures for evaluating and improving international activities at colleges at universities.  He has also lived and worked in Germany and Japan.  Dr. Engberg holds a Ph.D. in higher education administration from Boston College, Masters and Bachelors degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a diploma in German language studies from the Defense Language Institute. He is the co-author, with CIHE Director Philip G. Altbach, of Higher Education: A Worldwide Inventory of Centers and Programs (Phoenix, AZ: Oryx Press, 2000).

Yanmei Jiang has more than a decade of teaching experience in American higher education as an instructor of college English, cultural studies, and literature. Her interests and expertise relate to teaching and developing curriculum for various levels of college composition, cultural studies, and literature courses, mentoring college students, especially international students, and building cultural exchange programs. Before joining the GO Group, Yanmei taught at Shanghai International Studies University, Winona State University, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and Minnesota State Colleges Southeast East Technical. In Milwaukee, Yanmei helped initiate a number of community cultural exchange programs.  She has been interviewed by a leading Wisconsin television station (Wisconsin 12 news) and Milwaukee Public Radio for her community engagement efforts.  Yanmei Jiang is the co-founder of the Building Bridges Cultural Exchange, a non-profit organization.  Its mission is to enhance cultural awareness and promote global citizenship through cultural and educational exchanges. Yanmei Jiang holds two Master’s degrees in English, one from Shanghai International Studies University and one from Winona State University. She is currently finishing her Ph.D. in English at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Juan Wu, Program Coordinator

Juan Wu has more than a decade of higher education teaching and program development experience in China and the United States.  She is currently teaching at Zaozhuang University. Her interests and expertise relate to teaching and developing curriculum for all levels of college English courses for Chinese students and Chinese language courses for foreign students. Juan has a Master’s degree in Contrastive Studies and Translation between English and Chinese from Shanghai Maritime University and a Master’s degree in Linguistics from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee (UWM). Juan was a member of the nationally-known Chinese language program at UWM for three years. During her teaching career at UWM, she helped to develop curriculum for all levels of Chinese language courses and designed a wide range of cultural activities and presentations for American students studying Chinese as a foreign language. She also helped coordinate the Chinese language program.
